Clark Labs Announces the Release of Coastal Zone Workbook
7/15/02
The Applications in Coastal Zone Research and Management workbook is now available for use with Idrisi32. The third volume in the Explorations in Geographic Information Systems Technology series explores the role GIS may play in coastal zone research and management, particularly as growing pressures due to development and pollution have made environmental assessment and management a new priority in coastal zone research. It is distributed on CD in convenient pdf format and includes a full conversion of the exercises for compatibility. Workbooks are currently priced at 50 USD each, plus shipping and handling.
The workbook includes a review paper with extensive bibliography that explores the use of GIS analytical techniques in the field of coastal zone research and management. A set of exercises provides the user an opportunity to apply these techniques to geographically diverse case study problems. These exercises explore the particular considerations of habitat inventory, the modeling of sea level rise, change analysis and sand erosion, among others. Digital data sets are included.
Sponsored by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the Explorations in Geographic Information Systems Technology workbook series was developed to provide scientific and technical support to the UNITAR training program in GIS. It is therefore useful to a wide range of audiences, including resource managers, researchers, educators and students.
Other workbooks in this series include:
Change and Time Series Analysis
Applications in Forestry
Applications in Hazard Assessment and Management
GIS and Mountain Environments
